Introducing the Lewis Rathbun Legacy Fund
Assuring the Future of Pathways-Life After Cancer

In 1977, Dr. Lewis Rathbun, an Asheville ob/gyn, decided that more needed to be done to provide counseling and psychological support to cancer patients. He observed that his patients' attitudes and emotions could have a powerful effect on their illness and recovery. Believing that many of these patients could add "years to their life and life to their years," Dr. Rathbun founded Pathways-Life After Cancer, an informal support group that met weekends in his office. Today, Pathways-Life After Cancer offers a full range of programs for individuals, families, and the community (see Services).

The Lewis Rathbun Legacy Fund has been created to ensure the long-term financial stability and growth of Pathways-Life After Cancer. It is a tribute not only to Lewis Rathbun's vision, but also an honor to his high ideals and standards for patient care and the practice of medicine. See Donations/Contributions page for how you can donate to the Legacy Fund.
